Linear equations (2 step)
A linear equation is an equation that contains variables that have an exponent (are raised to a power) that is no higher than one.
All equations have an equals sign, which means that everything on the left-hand side of the = is exactly the same as everything on the right-hand side.
Area of shapes
The area of a 2D shape is the amount of space inside it. Examples of units of area are mm2, cm2, and m2.
Frequency polygons
A frequency polygon is a graph that shows the frequencies of grouped data. It is a type of frequency diagram that plots the midpoints of the class intervals against the frequencies and then joins up the points with straight lines.
Area and circumference of a circle
The circumference of a circle is its outside edge, and is the same distance from the centre at every point along its length. This distance is called the radius. Learn how to measure and calculate these, along with the area and diameter of a circle.
Reflections
Reflection is a type of transformation that flips a shape in a mirror line (also called a line of reflection) so that each point is the same distance from the mirror line as its reflected point.
HCF and LCM
The HCF and LCM are two abbreviations for the highest common factor (HCF) and the lowest common multiple (LCM).
Averages from a frequency table
Averages from frequency tables allows us to find an average for a data set using frequency tables.
We will look at three averages:
- Mean:
To calculate the mean we find the total of the values and divide the total by the number of values.
- Median:
The median is the middle value.
- Mode:
The mode is the most common value
Standard form
Standard form, or standard index form, is a system of writing numbers which can be particularly useful for working with very large or very small numbers. It is based on using powers of 10 to express how big or small a number is.
Standard form is written in the form of a×10n, where a is a number bigger than or equal to 1 and less than 10.
Quadratic graphs
Quadratic graphs are graphs of quadratic functions – that is, any function which has x2 as its highest power.
We can plot the graph of a quadratic function by drawing a table of values for the xxx and yyy coordinates, and then plotting these on a set of axes.
Probability tree diagrams
Probability tree diagrams are a way of organising the information of two or more probability events. Probability tree diagrams show all the possible outcomes of the events and can be used to solve probability questions.
To use tree diagrams, we need to know the probability of individual events occurring and use the fact that probabilities on each set of branches add up to 1.1.1.
English Language
The Eduqas GCSE English Language exam consists of two papers that assess reading and writing skills:
Paper 1: 20th-Century Literature Reading and Creative Prose Writing
- Section A (Reading): Students analyse an unseen extract from a 20th-century literary fiction text.
- Section B (Writing): Students write a creative prose piece based on a visual stimulus or prompt.
Exam length: 1 hour 45 minutes (80 marks, 40% of the GCSE)
Paper 2: 19th- and 21st-Century Non-Fiction Reading and Transactional/Persuasive Writing
- Section A (Reading): Students analyze and compare two unseen non-fiction extracts (one from the 19th century, one from the 21st century).
- Section B (Writing): Students write a transactional or persuasive text, such as a letter, article, or speech.

English Literature
The Eduqas GCSE English Literature exam consists of two papers that assess students' understanding of prose, drama, and poetry:
Paper 1: Shakespeare and 19th-Century Novel
- Section A (Shakespeare): Students answer an extract-based question and an essay question on a studied Shakespeare play (e.g.Romeo and Juliet).
- Section B (19th-Century Novel): Students answer an extract-based question and an essay question on a studied 19th-century novel (e.g. A Christmas Carol ).
Exam length: 2 hours (80 marks, 40% of the GCSE)
Paper 2: Post-1914 Prose/Drama, Poetry Anthology, and Unseen Poetry
- Section A (Modern Text): Essay on a studied post-1914 text (e.g. An Inspector Calls).
- Section B (Poetry Anthology): Comparison of two poems from the Eduqas poetry anthology.
- Section C (Unseen Poetry): Analysis of an unseen poem, with a comparison to a second unseen poem.

We are producing a series of resources to help parents to support their children completing GCSEs this Summer.
There are different GCSE Science (AQA) papers depending on whether your child is doing Trilogy (combined science course) or Triple Science (three single sciences). The papers are tiered and your child will be entered for either a Foundation or Higher paper.
All students – whether Trilogy Science or Single Science (triple) students will do 6 exam papers – 2 for Biology, 2 for Chemistry and 2 for Physics.
Your child can revise by printing of the following booklets and activities – at home or at school – and filling them in using their workbook and folder notes and from online websites such as BBC Bitesize – click here – which has content directly matched to the course your child is studying.
