Results and certificates

Certificates are important documents and should be kept in a safe place. Even many years after leaving school, it is highly likely that colleges, universities, and employers will ask to see them. Students are therefore strongly advised to remember to collect their examination certificates from school. Students should note that certificates are NOT the same as exam result slips.

When will my certificates be available for collection?

Generally, within 3 months of receiving your examination results.

will the school remind me to collect my certificates?

Students will be reminded about collecting certificates in their Examination Guide and an email will be e-mailed to all parent/carers during the Autumn Term.  No further reminders will be given.

How can I collect my examination certificates?

Certificates are available for collection from December 2024 for students who achieved GCSEs in the Summer of 2024.  An email will be sent to parent/carers informing students of when they can collect their certificates from the school reception.  Certificates are not automatically sent out because they need to be signed for. Exam certificates for those students that sat exams in the summer of 2023 can still collect their corticates from the front desk.

What if I cannot collect my examination certificates?

Allow a nominated person to collect on your behalf.  You need to email langley.exams@taw.org.uk  giving the person’s name and what relationship they are to you.

How long will the school keep my certificates?

Schools are only required to hold certificates for a period of 12 months from the date of issue.  Our school holds certificates for 10 years.  After this time, the school securely destroys the certificates.

can i check if the school still has my certificates?

Yes, you can.

If you email langley.exams@taw.org.uk giving the following information

  • Name when you were at school
  • Date of Birth
  • Year you left the school

The Examinations Officer will then check to see if we still hold your certificates.

what do I do if school no longer holds my certificates?

Firstly, have you checked with the school to see if they have your certificates, if not email langley.exams@taw.org.uk

If the school has confirmed that they do not have your certificates.

You will need to contact the relevant exam boards and follow their replacement certificate procedure. This is a costly and lengthy process which you will need to instigate and pay for yourself.
